Sarah Parks is the founder and principal of Custom Estate Planning. She graduated from George Mason School of Law (Arlington, Virginia) and joined the Virginia State Bar in 1993. Sarah also has an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center (Washington, DC).
Sarah founded Custom Estate Planning in 1995. The focus of her practice has been making estate planning understandable and available to everyone who wants a solid estate plan. Sarah is committed to spending the time with each client to acquaint herself with the client’s family situation, financial situation and estate planning goals so that the plan she develops for the client will meet the client’s needs. Sarah is also committed to being certain the client understands the estate planning options available for the client’s unique situation and help the client make the best possible choices from those available options.
Sarah has written numerous articles for The Golden Gazette explaining estate planning concepts, and has taught classes and spoken extensively on estate planning and other topics of interest to retired and senior individuals. Sarah has taught for Fairfax County Public Schools Adult & Community Education, for Arlington and Fairfax Learning in Retirement Institutes and for the Annandale Lifetime Learning Institute.
Robert (“Bob”) J. Patton, Jr. became an Of Counsel attorney with Custom Estate Planning in 2006. Bob retired as Deputy Chief Counsel for the Maritime Administration of the United States Department of Transportation in 2000, and was looking for a place to practice a law specialty that would allow him to make a direct and positive impact on people’s lives.
In his duties as Lay Leader for Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Bob finds satisfaction helping people in need, and his practice as an estate planning attorney provides him with the opportunity to help on a personal level.
Bob is a graduate of Duke University and received his law degree, with honors, from The George Washington University (Washington, DC) and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and of the Virginia State Bar.
Bob teaches estate planning courses for Fairfax County
Public Schools Adult & Community Education. He has also written several genealogical books.
